MIND THE GAP: a digital exhibition on living in the messy

MIND THE GAP is a reflection on the messy part of evolution.

The space in between what we once were and what we are meant to be. The middle, the tension, the uncomfortable wrestle between being and becoming. In some ways, this tension is ever-present – we are always, continually unfolding. Life is constantly having its way with us.

And in other ways, it feels like we’re at a crescendo we’ve yet to experience in our lifetimes. Organizations, systems, and society at large are evolving in a way that makes destruction feel inevitable. When everything is crumbling, the inner evolution feels that much more pronounced, more uncomfortable.

Even this is by design. Nature asks only for what it always does – evolution.

To evolve is to let the old die, yet not rush its pace. To let the cycle complete, we are asked to surrender. To not let our minds get in the way of the inevitable. And in fact, to embolden them to see that the only thing keeping us from embracing the mess, and as a result, moving through it, is the false perception that what we’re leaving behind offers more than what’s ahead.

MIND THE GAP is the first of our digital exhibits – an attempt to reclaim the way we use our platforms and prioritize the truth that lies within art and nature. Through a compilation of art pieces from members of our team and history, and contemplations of personal experience and organizational expression, this exhibit journeys into the state of evolution we find ourselves in. As always, at a big idea, we tell stories in fractals - how who we are ripples out to what we experience at work and culturally. It’s all interconnected.

It’s also an invitation to dive inward, to lay to rest any illusions of control, to pass through the cycle of decay not from a place of persecution, but rather as a willing participant in the miraculous - if albeit confounding - nature of being alive.
